Join us for an artist reception for Trish O'Grady. Her work will be on display at the library in May and June.
Artist Bio:
As a member of the Glenwood Art Guild I am excited yet apprehensive to have my work displayed at the library since I am surrounded by colleagues that have been serious artists for many years. I started to dabble in sketching and simple drawings using colored pencils when I moved to Rifle in 2013.
I was teaching at the middle school and as a stress reliever I would keep supplies in my car. In nice weather I would explore the area, stop when I found a scenic spot and sit in the back of the car with the hatch open and draw. After retiring I was able to devote more time to the craft and started to use supplies that I inherited from my Mom. She started to paint in her mid 50s and that is when I had the notion that maybe some of her talent rubbed off on me. I was in my mid 50s also and she gave me inspiration. I have more of her paintings hung in my home than my own.
I have also experimented with stained glass, alcohol ink and currently focusing on watercolor, acrylic and pastel.
