Jane Parnell, first woman to climb the 100 highest peaks of Colorado, is the author of the mountaineering memoir, "Off Trail: Finding My Way Home." The book recounts how her mountaineering adventures helped her heal from trauma. She is a three-time managing editor in the magazine industry.

Jan Parnell's articles, editorials, and essays with the byline Jane Koerner have been featured in High Country News, Mountain Gazette, Outdoor Adventure, and Colorado Central Magazine, among other publications. She contributed to Outdoors in the Southwest: An Adventure Anthology (OU Press 2014), which received the Colorado Book Award for Anthology. She has taught journalism at Utah State University and composition at Colorado Mountain College-Summit County.
