Railroad to the Pacific: The Story Behind the Pacific Railroad Surveys

Why was the first transcontinental railroad built where it was and what events led to the selection of that route? The answers to these and other questions are the subject of a program entitled “Railroad to the Pacific: The Story Behind the Pacific Railroad Surveys.” This is the fourth and final installment of the 2014 Winter Lecture Series cosponsored by the Glenwood Springs Branch Library and the Frontier Historical Society. The program will be presented by Pat Thrasher of the Glenwood Railroad Museum on Thursday April 17 at 7 p.m. at the Glenwood Springs Branch Library at 815 Cooper Avenue. The annual lecture series is free and open to the public.
