Request a Book
This topic has answers for three variations on "How do I request a book?"
Note: we use the term "book" here as a generic term; you can request DVDs, audiobooks, music CDs, and more!
Place a hold on an item from our online catalog
Suggest a title for the library collection
Request an item through interlibrary loan
To place a hold on an item from our catalog:
Use the search box on our home page or in our catalog to search for items by title, author, keyword, subject, and more. Once you've found the title you are interested in, click on the Request This Title link in the box on the right side of the item listing. Please note: with certain multi-volume sets, the volumes are available for check-out individually. If you wish to request a specific volume, please contact your local branch so a friendly librarian can help you place a hold only on the volume(s) you want.

On the next screen, enter your name and library card number and click Login.

After logging in, your "home" branch should automatically be shown as the default location but you may change it if necessary. Click on the Request This Title button and you're finished! Depending on the preferences you set when you got your library card, the library will call or email you to let you know when your hold is ready to be picked up. Holds are available to be picked up for one week; after that time, we return the book to the shelf or to the owning library.

To request that the library purchase materials:
Complete this form online to suggest titles for the library's collection.
To request an item through interlibrary loan:
Complete this form online to request an item that is not found in our catalog. By default, the catalog will search within the Garfield County Public Library District first. You can expand your search to the "Marmot Catalog" to search the collections of our partner libraries across Colorado as well as the GCPLD collection. A hold placed through our catalog (even for items held at other libraries) is likely to arrive sooner than an interlibrary loan request (which could, potentially, come from any library, anywhere), so please be sure to expand your search in the catalog.
