One Book, One Town Author Visit in Carbondale

Join us for a community read presented by the Gordon Cooper Branch Library. Author Helen Thorpe will speak and sign copies of her book, Just Like Us, on Thursday, October 13, at 7:00 p.m. The event will be held at the Third Street Center Round Room and is free and open to the public. Just Like Us tells the true story of four Mexican girls coming of age in America. It won the 2010 Colorado Book Award for Creative Nonfiction and was selected as Carbondale's 2011 One Book, One Town title. One Book, One Town is a program to encourage everyone in the community to get to know their neighbors by reading and discussing the same book.

Ms. Thorpe's visit is presented in collaboration with the Friends of the Gordon Cooper Branch Library, CCAH, and SWAN (Support Women Artists Now) month. You may download the event poster here.
