Glenwood Springs Construction Plans & Drawings
The Library District is working with Colorado Mountain College on the Cooper Commoms project, which will include a new library facility with space for CMC classes and offices above, as well as day parking for CMC staff and weekend and evening parking for the public in downtown Glenwood Springs below at the corner of 8th Street and Cooper Avenue. The new two-story facility includes a new 14,000 square foot library on the ground floor and a 14,000 square foot second floor that will provide 10,000 square feet of future expansion space for CMC as well as up to 4000 square feet for the library.
The first floor library space will feature a 250-person meeting room, three study rooms and a small conference room for public use. There will be separate spaces for children, teens and adults as well as quiet reading area and a computer zone.The site will also feature a community plaza on the south side of the building with a stage for outdoor events. The Library District and CMC are working with Dennis Humpries of Humpries Polis of Denver for the building design. The contractor is FCI, Inc. Construction. This project started in April 2012 will and be completed by October 2013.
