Donate to the Library

The Garfield County Public Library Foundation is always grateful for your support, whether it comes in the form of a financial donation, donation of materials, or donation of time as a volunteer. Thank you for your interest in supporting your public library!

Make a Cash Contribution!

The Foundation appreciates cash donations of any amount. Donations are used to support the collections, programs, and facilities of Garfield County Libraries.

Donate a Book!

For a donation of $25 you can purchase a book in someone’s name. Each book will receive a special book plate honoring the memory of a loved one, dedicating the book in honor of someone, or celebrating a milestone such as a birthday or anniversary. Books can be designated in honor of an individual, family, organization or even a pet and can be selected by subject or, in some cases, by title.

Donate to a Building Project!

Garfield County Public Library Foundation offers donors opportunities to support new libraries in their communities through donations to pay for enhancements such as fireplaces, furnishings, light fixtures and art. Each building has its own special features and donations can range from small to substantial, and may be phased, if necessary. For more information about donor opportunities at new facilities, contact Kelsy Been at 970-625-4270 or by email at kbeen@gcpld.org.

Become a Member of the Friends!

Every branch library has its own Friends of the Library group. Friends groups are great ways to get connected and volunteer your time to help the library. Contact your local branch manager or click here for more information about the Friends at your local branch library.

Donate Used Books & Materials!

What materials does the Garfield County Public Library District accept as donations?

We accept books, CDs and DVDs.

Are there any materials the Library does not accept as donations?

We do not accept textbooks, cassette tapes, videotapes, records, magazines (including National Geographic), Reader’s Digest condensed books, broken or damaged items, items that are missing parts, non-book or media items (e.g. toys, calendars, cards, etc.), and personally recorded audio or video items.

How much can be donated at one time?

Because of space limitations, we cannot accept more than two boxes or bags unless arrangements are made. For larger donations, please call your local branch directly to make arrangements.

What happens to materials donated to the Garfield County Public Library District?

Library staff members evaluate all materials to see if the materials can be added to our collection. Materials not added to the collection may be sold at Friends of the Library book sales. The Library tries to recycle or sell any unacceptable materials.

Where can I donate materials?

We accept donations at any library branch during open hours. Click here for information on our branch locations and hours.

Will I receive a receipt for my donations?

Donors receive an "Acceptance of Materials" form. We are unable to appraise donated materials.

Donate Your Time!

To learn more about donating your time to the library, please read our Volunteering page. You'll need to contact the Branch Manager at your local branch library and complete a volunteer form.
