Come and meet local author Tom Elder at the New Castle Branch Library on Monday, May 20, 2013 at 6:30 pm. Elder will be talking about his new book It's All About the Timing, a story of mature love, real estate greed, and the search for buried silver treasure in Aspen, Colorado.
Step Back in Time for The Big Read
The Parachute Branch Library offers a fun-filled afternoon of history on Saturday, February 23 for The Big Read.
Local singer/songwriter Nate Adams will start at 12:30 p.m. with a 30-minute tribute to Woodie Guthrie. Like Woodie, Adams plays by himself – just his guitar, harmonica, and croonin’. Come listen to Guthrie’s traditional folk and blues songs and hear stories about the "Dust Bowl Troubadour” himself.

All ages and levels are invited to attend the writing workshop at the New Castle Branch Library on Wednesday, February 27 at 6 p.m., and at the Silt Branch Library on Thursday, February 28 at 6 p.m. These programs are free and open to the public.

This year, CMC’s Common Reader selection is “Ludlow” by Colorado’s Poet Laureate, David Mason. This verse novel tells the story of the Ludlow Massacre in southern Colorado on April 20, 1914, where immigrant miners on strike and their families were attacked and many were killed by the Colorado National Guard. This selection reflects on a momentous event in American labor relations and in Colorado history.

Join Misheel Chuluun, local author of “Write a How-to Book in 7 Days,” (authored under pen name Sam Sterling) at the New Castle Branch Library on Wednesday November, 7 at 6 p.m. where she will talk about what aspiring authors can expect to face in the publishing industry. Chuluun will discuss key mistakes new authors make, the latest developments and options in the marketing industry, and new methods for marketing, researching, and publishing.
An Evening with Anita Witt
Anita Witt, author of "I Remember One Horse" and "They Came from Missouri" and executive producer of the documentary "The Last of the Cowboys in the Roaring Fork Valley" will be coming to the New Castle Branch Library on Wednesday, October 3rd at 6:30 p.m. The program will include a showing of "The Last of the Cowboys in the Roaring Fork Valley" and a discussion of Ms. Witt's books.
Carbondale's One Book One Town
Join us at the Round Room at the 3rd Street Center in Carbondale on Monday, October 22nd at 6:30 for a special author event celebrating the 9th annual One Book One Town. This year's selection, "Nothing Daunted" by Dorothy Wickenden, is available for checkout at the library.
