Food for Thought: A Cookbook Club

Do you love browsing through cookbooks and trying new techniques? Then hang on to your spatula! The Parachute Branch Library is happy to introduce its newest book club, "Food for Thought." We pick the cookbook, you pick and make a recipe.

Food for Thought will be held on Thursday, August 22; Tuesday, September 24, and Thursday, October 24 at 6:00 pm.

iPad Club

Join us on Saturday, August 17 at 1:00 pm at the Rifle Branch Library for our monthly iPad Club. Meet other iPad enthusiasts, learn new tips and tricks, participate in monthly APP-tivities, and have fun!

Refreshments provided. Don't forget to bring your iPad. Or, if you don't have an iPad and are curious, come and use one of ours!

Microsoft Windows 101

Join us at the New Castle Branch Library on July 27 at 1:00 pm in the Meeting Room for Microsoft Windows 101. Here, you will gain a solid foundation in Windows basics, learn tips and tricks to help you navigate its interface efficiently, and how you can utilize Windows to meet your specific computer needs. We will use the Windows 7 operating system to learn on and will discuss aspects of Windows 8.

Work It Wednesday

Calling all quilters, stampers, needlecrafters, and scrapbookers! Want to have a day of fun and accomplishment? We’ll have tables, irons, ironing boards, and cutting mats all set up for your convenience. Drop in and bring your project for a day of crafting, food, and friends. Special note: this is the new day for June and July only!

Work It Wednesday will be held on Wednesday, July 10 from 10:00 - 5:00 pm at the Parachute Branch Library. Bring your own lunch; refreshments will be provided.

Genealogy Resources

“Genealogy Resources” is a free introductory program which will be offered at the Glenwood Springs Branch Library on Thursday, July 18 at 7:00 pm. The program is part of the Garfield County Libraries Adult Summer Reading Program, and will be presented by genealogy consultant Diane Hitchcock-Owens. Join this dynamic researcher to learn about the library district’s free genealogy databases, and discover ideas for researching your family history.

Light refreshments will be served. The library is located at 413 9th Street. 

Lemonade at the Library

Stop by the lobby of the Glenwood Springs Branch Library on Wednesday, July 17 from 2:00-4:00 pm, and join us for “Lemonade at the Library”. Enjoy lemonade and cookies while you take an opportunity to browse some of our “summer books” on topics such as gardening, cooking, bicycling etc. This free open house is part of our adult summer reading program. The library is located at 413 9th Street. 

Internet 101

Are you new to the internet, and not sure how or where to start? Join us on Saturday, July 13 at 1:30 pm in the Meeting Room of the Glenwood Springs Branch Library to learn about the internet, how to utilize its basic functions, acquiring internet safety skills, and how to build a solid foundation in overall internet usage that meets your needs.

Ladies Who Do Lunch Bunch

Join us as we discuss groundbreaking reads and enjoy a potluck lunch. Ladies Who Do Lunch Bunch meet on Tuesday, July 16 from noon until 2:00 pm at the Parachute Branch Library.

Scrabble Club

If you love words, games, and having fun, this club is for you! Our adult Scrabble Club meets from 5:30-8:00 pm on the first Tuesday of every month at the Glenwood Springs Branch Library. Beginners and experts alike are encouraged to join our club, which is free and open to the public. Make new friends and learn new Scrabble strategies. Scrabble boards, scoring materials, and dictionaries are provided.
